BETTY FRANCES SCURLOCK Betty Frances Scurlock, 59, died at Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, TN. She was born in Vero Beach, Florida and lived with her mother in Fellsmere most of her life, until moving to Nashville 5 years ago to live with her sister Melissa Joy Magness. She is survived by her beloved mother, Beatrice S. Magness and stepfather Robert R. Magness of Fellsmere, Florida, her sisters Carol I. Szabo of Palm Bay, Florida, Cathy G. Martinez, Vero Beach, Florida, Melissa Joy Magness and Norma J. Lucas (Scurlock), both originally from Fellsmere but now residing in Nashville, Tennessee. She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews whom she adored, as well as her beloved dog Zoe. Betty is preceded in death by her father, Fred D. Scurlock, Jr, and her loving sister Sandra L. Battles (Scurlock). Betty enjoyed helping deliver meals on wheels. She never met a stranger, loved to make people laugh, and brought joy to all she encountered. She was kind and generous, seldom asking for anything in return. Betty achieved many awards in Special Olympics. She loved bowling, ceramics, painting, puzzles, bingo, dancing, and singing. She found great delight watching humming birds and monitoring her growing flowers. She was passionate about the color purple. She especially adored babies and children. Betty was involved with Progress, Inc., an outstanding program in Nashville that helps seniors and adults with intellectual disabilities to go out daily into the community for shopping, movies, bingo, and many more activities. A special thanks to the staff at Progress, especially Ron, Ms. Mabel, Michael, and Ms. KK. Betty loved you all. Services: Visitation will be 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Saturday, December 29, 2012 at Strunk Funeral Home, Sebastian, Florida. Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 PM, Saturday December 29, 2012 at the funeral home chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Progress, Inc, 319 Ezell Pike, Nashville, TN 37217.
