Edward "Ed" John Huebner Matthews, NC Ed Huebner, age 86, passed away early Monday morning December 10, in Charlotte, NC. He lived a long and full life, loved by many. Ed was born in Detroit, MI on June 9, 1926, to Edward C. and Anna M. Huebner. Married for 56 years to Marjorie Ann (Bradley) Huebner, who predeceased Ed, he is survived by his two children, Kathleen Huebner Adamson, married to Kent Adamson and Edward Louis Huebner, married to Lorie Huebner. Ed had five grandchildren, in whom he took great pride, Allison Huebner, Edward Joseph Huebner, Christine Huebner, David Adamson, and Andrea Adamson, Ed is also survived by his brother, James Huebner, M.D, and his wife Ruth Huebner, as well as his sister, Mary Richard. He was predeceased by his siblings, Margaret Greening, Charles Huebner, Bernard Huebner and Rosemary Huebner. Edward grew up in Detroit, spending many summers with family in Ontario, Canada. He enlisted in WWII in the Army Air Corps and served as a tail gunner in a B-24 Liberator based in Italy in 1944-45. He graduated from the University of Detroit with a Bachelors Degree in Business. He enjoyed a long and successful career in sales, at Square D, and Textron, and became the Vice President of Sales at Cadillac Rubber and Plastic. In retirement, he and Marjorie traveled extensively. They enjoyed their winter home at Island Dunes, in Jensen Beach, Florida. In 2007, Ed and Marjorie moved to Matthews, NC where Ed was a proud member of American Legion Post 235. A high point in recent years was taking "The Flight of Honor" to Washington DC. Ed was an immensely social person who never met a stranger. There will be a Celebration of Ed's life on January 5, at the Heritage Funeral Home in Matthews, with the time to be announced. Additionally, there will be a Celebration of Ed's life in Michigan in the spring, date to be announced. Memorial donations for Ed should be directed to: American Legion Post 235, P.O. Box 3367, Matthews, NC 28106. Charitable contributions in his name will be used to fund the Legion's youth and veteran programs.
