Edward Booth Obituary

Edward Owen Booth, 79, died June 7, 2011, at Treasure Coast Hospice in Fort Pierce. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and lived in St. Lucie West since 1994, coming from Coconut Grove and New York. Before retirement, he worked for Detroit Diesel for 30 years in Detroit, Chicago and New York. He also owned T-K Specialties, was a private pilot and was a sailor. He was a military veteran in Korea in the 45th Infantry Division and was a wireman in the Hdq & Hdq Battery of the 45th Division Artillery. He attended Coconut Grove Elementary, Shenandoah Junior High, Miami High School and the University of Florida. He was a member of the Republican Town Committee and the chairman of the Sewer Board in Lakeville, Conn. He also was secretary-treasurer and newsletter editor of the Salisbury Rotary Club, a secretary-treasurer of the EAA Chapter 908 at the Fort Pierce Airport and a founding member of the PGA Country Club. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Irene G. Booth; daughter, Irene Joyce of Interlaken, N.J.; sons, Thomas R. Broxson and Christopher E. Broxson, both of Marco Island; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society, 100 Savannah Road, Fort Pierce, FL 34982. Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. June 10 at St. Bernadette Catholic Church in St. Lucie West. Arrangements are by Martin Funeral Home and Crematory in Stuart.
