Edward Haas Obituary

Edward William Haas, 96, died June 6, 2011, at Martin Memorial Hospital in Stuart. He was born in St. Paul, Minn., and lived in Palm City since 1998, coming from Bodega Bay, Calif. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific; the Korean War; OQMG in Washington; and Augsberg, Germany. He was promoted to captain and awarded the Bronze Star. Before retirement, he was a high school teacher and an executive in the publishing business at West Publishing Co. and Prentice Hall. He attended the University of Chicago, MIT and Arizona State University and had degrees in economics, accounting and law. He was of the Catholic faith. Survivors include his sons, William Haas of Chico, Calif., and Christopher Haas of Sandy, Utah; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris; and daughter, Pamela. Services: A service will be at 10:15 a.m. June 10 at the South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth with full military honors. Arrangements are by All County Funeral Home and Crematory Treasure Coast Chapel.
