EUGENE F. SPAGNOLA, SR. Mr. Eugene F. Spagnola Sr., 84, of North Hutchinson Island, Florida passed away peacefully May 5, 2013 at VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach, Florida. He was the husband of Anita C. (Nardelli) Spagnola. Eugene was born in Waterbury, Connecticut on August 16, 1928, son of the late Anthony and Rose Spagnola. He graduated from Crosby High School and Bryant College in Rhode Island where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and a Masters in Education. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II as a Master Sergeant. After the war, Eugene owned and operated the men's clothing store Marinelli & Spagnola in Waterbury, before pursuing his true passion, education. He became Head of Vocational and Career Education for the City of Waterbury and a Professor of Management at Western State Connecticut University. Eugene and Anita retired to Florida 22 years ago and enjoyed many years of travel overseas. In addition to his loving wife of 59 years, he is survived by their three sons Anthony (Annie) of Brooklyn Heights, New York, Joseph (Susan) of Cape Elizabeth, Maine, and Eugene (Holly) of Newtown, Connecticut. He also leaves four grandchildren Will, Madeleine, Jack and Thomas. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Vero Beach on Tuesday, May 14 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Eugene's name may be made to the VNA Hospice House, 901 37th Street, Vero Beach, Florida 32960.
