Yes, Big Brother, it was 68 years ago today, on the battle field of Okinawa, when God called you away. It was on your 20th Birthday, which you might not recall, as you were busy with your fellow Marines, giving your all. Why? I have asked many times through the years. Only God knows the reason, as he wipes away our tears. When the news came, we were attending church on the corner. Ironically, having special prayers service for all the boys serving our Country with honor. Dad, Mom, and all of us kids, were heart-broken when the telegram came, but their deep faith in Gold always remained the same. Yes, big brother, I was 16 when God called you on the fateful 3rd day in May. Now 68 years later, you are still my big hero. You gave your life for your Country on your Birthday! Semper Fi Your grateful, loving sister Betty Dempsey
