Fred Lewis Obituary

Fred Douglas Lewis, 73, died May 22, 2011, at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center in Fort Pierce. He was born in Lumpkin, Ga., and lived in Fort Pierce for 50 years, coming from Syracuse, N.Y. He retired from Pride Grove Citrus Co. He attended First Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors included his wife, Elder Martha Lewis of Fort Pierce; son, Thomas Lewis of Fort Pierce; daughters, Jacqueline D. Young and Monica Lewis, both of Fort Pierce; brothers, Richard Lewis of Fort Lauderdale and Sammie L. Humber of Lumpkin, Ga.; sisters, Brooksie Brown and Mable Daniel, both of Lumpkin, Ga.; 14 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Lee Lewis; sisters, Mollie Murdock, Mattie Jenkins, Gertrude Benjamin and Willie Mae Cannon; and brothers, Henry L. Lewis and Eddie Lewis. Services: Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. May 20 and 9 to 10 a.m. May 21 at Sarah's Memorial Chapel. A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. May 21 at Tabernacle Church of Deliverance with the Rev. Marvin Armstrong. Burial will be in Riverview Memorial Park.
