Frederick Douglas White III, 74, died Nov. 30, 2012, at Gerstenberg Center in West Palm Beach. He was born in Chicago, and lived in St. Lucie County since 1996. He was an Army veteran and received the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal and others. He retired from Indian River State College as chair of the Business Department. He was a graduate of FAMU and a 50-year member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity. Survivors include his wife, Gloria W. White of Port St. Lucie; son, Frederick White IV of Port St. Lucie; daughter, Jessica Henderson of Fort Pierce; brothers, Joseph S. White of Tucson, Ariz., and Gregory J. White of St. Louis, Mo.; sister, Daphne Taylor of Mobile, Ala.; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandson. Services: Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Dec. 7 at Stone Brothers Funeral Home. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Dec. 8 at Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Stuart.
