GRACE HAMRICK HAMLETT Grace Hamrick Hamlett went to be with her heavenly father on January 4, 2013, the day that would have been the 90th birthday of the love of her life, the late D.E. Hamlett, Jr. Surrounded by her daughter, grandchildren, and great- grandchildren, she departed this life with the grace for which she was named. Born in Monterville, West Virginia on March 8, 1931 to the Reverend John and Elsie Hamrick, Grace finished high school at age sixteen, and after graduating business college in Bluefield, West Virginia, moved to Pearisburg, Virginia, where she met her future husband of forty-one years at a Halloween party in 1953. Grace and D.E. retired to Fort Pierce, Florida, where she lived vibrantly through this past October. A member of Lakewood Park Methodist Church there, Grace enjoyed many faithful friends who are thankful to have known her. In addition to her parents and husband, Grace was predeceased by her sister Iva Leo Waddell. Grace is survived by her brother Adam Tate Hamrick and his wife Imogene; her brother Wesley Bryan Hamrick; her brother-in-law Luther Hamlett; her daughter Deborah Stathos and her husband Agnew Stathos; her granddaughter Angela Oakey and her husband Dan Oakey; her grandson Adam Lunnie and his wife Samantha Lunnie; her granddaughter Amanda Stathos; her great-grandchildren Tyler Lunnie, Victoria Oakey, Hunter Oakey, Darby Oakey, and Carson Lunnie; her beloved dog Mitzi; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews; all of whom will miss her dearly. Grace lived a full and enviable life and may be best known for her endless giving nature, never with any desire for acknowledgment. She took great pleasure in chronicling the memories of her family members in carefully compiled scrapbooks. A memorial service will be held at Orchard Hills Church at 6032 Cloverdale Road in Roanoke at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 12, with the Reverend Scott McLucas and the Reverend Fred Austin officiating. A reception will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, gifts should be made to the cause of your choice. Arrangements are being handled by Oakey's Downtown Chapel, 540-982- 2100.
