Helga T. Swanson, 93, died July 24, 2013, at Sandhill Cove in Palm City. She was born in Norway and lived in Palm City for 15 years, coming from Stuart. She attended Adelphi University, Long Island, N.Y. She was the alumni director at Adelphi University. She was in charge of the newsletter at Sandhill Cove in Palm City, chairman of the library committee and ran the Sandhill Cove Forum. She volunteered at the Salvation Army, was president of the Women's Auxiliary and University Women's Club, chairman of the Christian Women's Club and won the Salvation Army's highest civilian award for her fundraising efforts. Survivors include her daughter, Elaine Turner of Richmond, Va.; son, Mark Swanson of North Creek, N.Y.; brothers, Erling Thompson and Stanley Thompson, both of Atlanta; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, E. Hubert Swanson; and brother, Rolfe Thompson. Memorial contributions may be made to Salvation Army, 120 W. 14th St., New York, N.Y., 10011. Services: Will be at 2 p.m. July 27 at the pavilion at Sandhill Cove. Arrangements are by All County Funeral Home & Crematory, Treasure Coast Chapel.
