John Cronin Obituary

John A. Cronin, 90, died May 14, 2011, at his home. He was born in Lowell, Mass., and lived in Vero Beach since 1986, coming from his birthplace. He received his bachelor's degree from the University of Massachusetts and his master's degree from the University of Connecticut. He served in the Army Air Forces during World War II and was a part of the China-Burma-India Theatre Airlift traveling over the Himalaya Mountains. He retired as principal of Bartlett Jr. High School in Lowell. He was a member of St. John of the Cross Catholic Church in Vero Beach. He was a member of the American Legion. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Martha J. Cronin of Vero Beach; sister, Rosamond Martin of Lowell; and a grandchild. He was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey John Cronin. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 378 Center Pointe Circle, Suite 1280, Altamonte Springs, FL 32701; 407-951-7992; www.alz.org/cnfl/. Services: A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. May 23 at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church in Vero Beach. Arrangements are by Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home & Crematory in Vero Beach. A guestbook is available at www.coxgiffordseawinds.com.
