John F. McArdle, 86, died June 27, 2013, at Salerno Bay Manor, Stuart. He was born in the Bronx, N.Y., and lived most of his life in Mahwah, N.J., moving to the Hobe Sound area in 1991. Before retirement, he worked for Hoffman and Koos Furniture Co. for more than 40 years. He served in the Army during World War II in Japan and the Philippines. He was a longtime member of Elks Lodge 1941 in Mahwah, N.J., and the Hall-Bryan Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10132 in Hobe Sound, also serving on its Honor Guard. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Betty (Leduc) McArdle of Hobe Sound; sons, Daniel McArdle of Hobe Sound and Thomas McArdle of Paterson, N.J.; daughter, Kathy Scorria of Florida and New York; and four grandchildren. Services: Will be 2 p.m. July 7 at the Hall-Bryan VFW Post 10132, Hobe Sound. Arrangements are by Treasure Coast Seawinds Funeral Home and Crematory, Stuart.
