Leonard Schade Obituary

Leonard "Albert" Schade, 75, died Oct. 25, 2010, at the Treasure Coast Hospice Residence of Stuart. He was born in New Britain, Conn., and lived in Hobe Sound for 24 years, coming from Old Lyme-Point O'Woods Beach, Conn. Before retirement he was a firefighter for the city of New Britain. He also worked for more than 40 years for Larson Livery in New Britain, serving all the area funeral homes. He was a life member of the Elks Lodge 957 of New Britain. He was a member of the Donau Society and the Central East Coast District Shuffleboard League and the Ridgeway Shuffleboard League in Hobe Sound. He graduated from Wilbriham Academy of Massachusetts. Survivors include his wife, Janice Schade of Hobe Sound; son, Jeffrey Schade of Plainville, Conn.; daughter, Maureen Schade of Farmington, Conn.; stepdaughters, Linda Werschky of New Britain and Ginger Skoglund of Sturbridge, Conn.; stepson; Frederick Stoddard of New Britain; and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Schade. Memorial contributions may be made to Treasure Coast Hospice, 1201 S.E. Indian St., Stuart, FL 34997; or tchospice.org SERVICES: A private burial will be at a later date in Connecticut. Arrangements are by Martin Funeral Home and Crematory of Stuart. A guestbook may be signed at heavencalled.com.
