LORNA JEAN LANE BAUM Resident of Stuart, FL Died at Age 89 in Stuart, Florida after a brief illness. Born July 2, 1923 in Pittsburgh, PA She spent most of her life in Syracuse, NY. She was a graduate of Syracuse University. Her continuing education included pastoral counseling in the master's program at Syracuse University. She was employed by Syracuse University as a member of the staff of Hendricks Chapel. In that position, she was coordinator of counseling and chapel events and became director of Community House at Syracuse University. She was a member of Chi Omega sorority and the Theta Chi Beta chapter of the Theta Alpha Kappa national religion honorary. While in living in Syracuse, she was a member of the Rockefeller United Methodist Church, the Nottingham Knolls Country Club, the Corinthian Foundation and was on the board of the Syracuse Symphony Guild. In Stuart, she was a member of Peace Presbyterian Church and the Miles Grant Country Club. She was an avid golfer and loved to play bridge. She was predeceased by her husband, Alan King Baum, in 2000. She is survived by her three children: Daniel Baum (Maggie) of Steamboat Springs, CO, Laurie Blefeld (Michael) of Mystic, CT and Paul Baum (Liz) of Marietta, GA. She is also survived by ten grandchildren: Katherine Bruzdzinski, Susan Maxwell, Peter Baum, Matthew Blefeld, Andrew Blefeld, Emily Volden, Sarah Blefeld, Natalie Baum, Lindsey Baum and Allison Baum and one great-grandchild, Noah Blefeld. She is also survived by her devoted companion, John Olivadoti of Stuart. Services will be private with burial at Oakwood Cemetery in Syracuse. Memorial donations may be made to Treasure Coast Hospice, 1201 SE Indian Street, Stuart, FL 34997. Arrangements are under the direction of the Treasure Coast Seawinds Funeral Home.
