Mary Layman Obituary

Mary "Beth" Elizabeth Layman, 92, died June 4, 2011, at Treasure Coast Hospice in Stuart. She was born in Cincinnati and lived in Palm City since 1981, coming from Tavernier. She attended the University of Cincinnati and was a member of Alpha Delta Phi sorority. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, the Oceanographic Society, Treasure Coast Travel Group and was a counselor for the Boy Scouts of America. She was a past member of the Coral Ridge Yacht Club. Survivors include her sons, Larry Layman Jr. of Snellville, Ga., Tim Layman of Marietta, Ga., and David Layman of Gainesville; daughter, Susan Thompson of Wilmore, Ky.; brother, Edward Franklin of Zellwood; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Layman; and one grandchild. Services: Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. June 6 at Forest Hills Funeral Homes, Palm City. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. June 7 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Palm City. A guestbook is available at www.foresthillspalmcityflorida.com.
