May Sims Obituary

May Sims, 84, died May 29, 2011. She was born in Fort Pierce and lived there from 1927 to 1955, when she moved to Fort Myers and then Blue Ridge, Ga. She was a graduate of Fort Pierce High School, class of 1945. She was a registered nurse. In Fort Myers, she worked at the Jones Walker Hospital and the Children's Clinic. She was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Fort Pierce. In Fort Myers, she was a member of St. Hilary's Episcopal Church and in Blue Ridge, she was active in the United Methodist Women at Epworth United Methodist Church. Survivors include her children, L. David Sims of Fort Myers, Richard W. Sims of Epworth, Jeffery A. Sims of Fort Myers and Amy Diehl of Smyrna, Ga.; brother, George Terry of Fort Pierce; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Sims. Memorial contributions may be made to United Hospice of Blue Ridge, 5004 Appalachian Highway, Suite 3A, Blue Ridge, GA 30513. Services: Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. June 3 at Finch Cochran Funeral Home, McCaysville, Ga. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. June 4 at Epworth United Methodist Church. A graveside committal and reception will follow.
