Nicholas Mongiello Obituary

Nicholas Richard Mongiello, 81, died March 17, 2010, at Treasure Coast Hospice House, Fort Pierce. He was born in New York City and lived in Port St. Lucie for 32 years, coming from Staten Island, N.Y. He served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War. He received a B.S. degree from Fordham University, the Bronx, N.Y. He was a certified public accountant. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Port St. Lucie; a fourth-degree Knight of Columbus with the St. Francis of Assisi Assembly 3117; and a founding member and financial secretary of the Father Omer H. Brauner Council 12159, Knights of Columbus. He was past president of the Holy Family Men's Club and a member of the Port St. Lucie Sons of Italy Lodge. Survivors include his wife, Camille Mongiello of Port St. Lucie; son, Richard G. Mongiello of Port St. Lucie; daughter, Gina Marie Galpern of Boca Raton; brothers, Louis R. Mongiello of Staten Island and Joseph J. Mongiello of Stamford, Conn,; and a grandchild. Memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Family Society of St. Vincent de Paul, 2330 S.E. Mariposa Ave., Port St. Lucie, FL 34952. SERVICES: Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. March 21 at Forest Hills Funeral Homes â€Â" Byrd, Young and Prill Chapel, Port St. Lucie, with Knights of Columbus services and a prayer vigil at 6:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. March 22 at Holy Family Catholic Church. Interment will follow in White City Cemetery, Fort Pierce, with military honors provided by the Marine Corps. A guest book may be signed at byrdyoungandprill.com.
