Percy "Buddy" White, 66, died Feb. 4, 2013. He was born in Skowhegan, Maine, and lived in Port St. Lucie for 23 years, coming from Maine. He taught school for 20 years in Maine, starting his teaching career in the Rockland School District and then moving on to teach history for many years at Madison Jr. High School. He also coached football and basketball. He taught 19 more years for the St. Lucie County School System before retiring in 2008. After retirement, he worked for the PGA Country Club and Treasure Coast High School as a security guard. He played four years of football as a starter at William Penn College, Oskaloosa, Iowa. He is a member of the William Penn Football Hall of Fame. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in education. Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Diane White of Port St. Lucie; daughters, Suzanne White of St. George, Utah, Kelly Whalen of Madison, Maine, and Kristy Osburn of Tequesta; son, Brian Hendsbee of Portland, Maine; sister, Simone Dickey of Waterville, Maine; and six grandchildren. Services: A funeral service will be at 9:30 a.m. Feb. 9 at St. Lucie Catholic Church in Port St. Lucie. Burial will be in the spring, at the St. Sebastian Catholic Cemetery, Madison.
