Raymond Bradley Obituary

Raymond Lansing Bradley, 93, died Aug. 5, 2009. He was born in South Deerfield, Mass., and lived in Port Salerno, coming from his birthplace. Before retirement, he worked at Wolfram Fuel Co. for 10 years, Staab Oil Co. in North Amherst, Mass., and was a custodian at Old Deerfield Elementary School for 19 1/2 years and a part-time custodian at Main Street building, senior center for 43 years and Tilton Library for 23 years. He was a member of the South Deerfield Volunteer Fire Department for 49 years, serving as chief for 22 years. He was a member of the Western Massachusetts Forest Wardens for 30 years. He was a member of Boy Scout Troop 11 and was a scoutmaster for 10 years. He also was a member of the former Wequamps Order of Red Men and a lifetime member of the South Deerfield Polish American Citizens Club. He graduated from the former Deerfield High School in 1936. Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Edith Wolftram Bradley; son, Frederick C. Bradley of Alpharetta, Ga.; daughter, Ellen B. Asselin of Port Salerno; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to South Deerfield Rescue Vehicle Fund, P.O. Box 211, South Deerfield, MA 01373. SERVICES: Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Aug. 10 at Wrisley Funeral Home in South Deerfield, followed by a service at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Philippe Roux officiating. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery in South Deerfield.
