Dr. Robert "Bob" Bullock, 87, died July 31, 2012, at Lawnwood Regional Hospital, Fort Pierce. He was born in New York City and lived in Fort Pierce. He earned a doctorate and a master of science degree in entomology from the University of Connecticut. He earned a bachelor of science degree in biology from St. Lawrence University. He served in the Army for a decade with the Medical Department and was promoted to sergeant. He was decorated with a Bronze Star Medal. He was a career entomologist. He held a faculty position at the University of Florida/IFAS Indian River Research and Education Center, Fort Pierce. He was a research scientist at the U.S. Department of Agriculture Agricultural Research Service at the U.S. Horticultural Research Laboratory, Fort Pierce, and then served as a consultant for Keyplex Inc. until his death. He was a member of Truth Church in Fort Pierce. He served on the Board of Bible Lands Missionaries and volunteered for youth programs at the Golden Rule Academy at Truth Church, youth 4-H entomology programs, and Meals on Wheels. He was a past president of the Kiwanis Club in Fort Pierce. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Jean G. Bullock; son, David W. Bullock; and daughter, Susan Hawkins, all of Fort Pierce; two grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Josh Hawkins; and brother, Judge Forman Bullock. Memorial contributions may be made to the Golden Rule Academy, 3891 Edwards Road, Fort Pierce, FL 34981. Services: Visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m. Aug. 3 with a service to follow at 3 p.m. at Haisley Funeral Home. A reception will follow the service at Haisley Reception Center.
