Robert George Keel, 86, died Feb. 4, 2013, at Sebastian River Medical Center in Sebastian. He was born in Toledo, Ohio, and lived in Sebastian for 27 years, coming from Casey Creek, Ky. He was a Navy veteran, serving during World War II. Before his retirement, he was employed as an equipment engineer in the telecommunications industry by Ohio Bell Telephone Co. He attended the First Presbyterian Church of Sebastian. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, life member of Chatham VFW Post 6892 and the American Legion. Survivors include his son, Robert Lewis Keel of Crane, Mo.; brother, Richard "Dick" Keel of Texas; sisters, Betty Benner of Louisiana and Donna Miller of Tennessee. He is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Kathryn Keel; brothers, Eugene Keel and Donald Keel; and sisters, Marge Miller and Dorothy Rupert. Services: A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Feb. 23 at the First Presbyterian Church of Sebastian in Sebastian. Arrangements are by Seawinds Funeral Home in Sebastian.
