Rosamond Wilson Obituary

ROSAMOND UNDERWOOD WILSON October 28, 1917 - May 28, 2011 Rosamond Wilson was born in Auburn, NY on October 28, 1917 and stayed young at heart until she died peacefully at home 93 years later on May 28, 2011. "Ros" graduated from the Low Haywood School in Stamford CT. Returning to Syracuse, she married CP Smith in 1942, the founder of the Addis Company, where she remained a principle until 1991. After losing her first husband to cancer, she married the brother of her school roommate, William Don Wilson; they enjoyed 50 years together until his death in 1997. Active in golf, tennis and garden club at both the John's Island Club in Vero Beach FL and the Onondaga Golf and Country Club in Fayetteville NY, Ros was an avid gardener and filled her homes with color and life. Known as the "Strawberry Connection," Ros picked gallons of strawberries to deliver to her many Vero Beach friends throughout the years. Her Santa hat was firmly planted on her head every December. On Christmas Eve, Ros dressed the part, visiting delighted family and friends. An unofficial Mickey Mouse booster and Disneyworld ambassador, Ros enjoyed many visits, the last with her great- grandchildren in 2009. She never outgrew the wonderment of Disney. Ros is survived by three children: Jerry A Smith (Sharon Ames) of Fayetteville NY, Wendy Underwood Wilson of Syracuse NY, and Mark D (Muffie) Wilson of Stuart FL; previous daughter-in-law and companion Dianne Smith of Palm Beach Gardens FL; and four grandchildren: Christopher P Smith of Palm Beach Gardens FL, Leslie A Smith of San Francisco CA, Shannon Sutton and Chloe Douglas-Crampton of Calgary, Canada; three great- grandchildren and beloved nephew and nieces. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Humane Society of Vero Beach or your favorite charity, and enjoy your blessings as she did for her long and beautiful life. A memorial service will be arranged in Vero Beach this summer. Paid Obituary
