Shirley Walker Obituary


SHIRLEY N. WALKER Shirley N. Walker, 87, devoted mother, grandmother and long-time resident of Vero Beach, died May 11, 2011 at Royal Palm Healthcare. She was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on February 11, 1924 and moved to Vero Beach in 1967 from Toms River, New Jersey with her husband Hepburn who pre-deceased her in 2005. Shirley and Hep were married in New York City on July 2, 1945, having met at Lakehurst Naval Air Station where she was a Navy Wave and Hep flew airships for the Navy. She was the daughter of William and Hilda Naeser of Two Rivers, Wisconsin. Shirley's love of her family, friends, church and community will be fondly remembered by all who knew her. She was a longstanding member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, the most senior member of the Vero Beach Yacht Club and past member of the Vero Beach Country Club, the Moorings Golf Club and the John's Island Golf Club. Survivors include her son William (Roberta) Walker, daughter Barbara (William) Burrows, of Vero Beach and son Robert (Kathleen) Walker of Orlando, 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, sisters Beatrice Hermann and Patricia Bonfigt of Two Rivers and Jean Kipp of Lakeland, FL. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Shirley's name to Our Savior Lutheran Church, 1850 6th Ave., Vero Beach, FL 32960. A Memorial Service will be held at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Vero Beach on Tuesday, May 17 at 11:00 A.M. A private graveside service will be held in Sewickley, PA. Arrangements are by Strunk Funeral Home and Crematory of Vero Beach. A guest book is available at www. strunkfuneralhome.com. paid obituary
