Willice Hicks Obituary

Willice E. Hicks, 82, died May 25, 2011, in Port St. Lucie. He was born in DeFuniak Springs and lived in Fort Pierce for 20 years, coming from Jensen Beach. He was the inventor of Will's Guitar Slides. He was a veteran of the Air Force, serving during World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War. He also was a prisoner of war. He was a member of the American Legion and of the Boiler Makers Union Local 433. Survivors include his son, Mark Hicks of Orlando; daughters, Brenda Gignilliat of Hinesville, Ga., and Jackie Rafghi of Groveland; stepdaughters, Debbie Kilpatrick and Donna Fortson, both of Bradenton; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Hicks; and sons, Leon, J.D. and Frank Hicks. Memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Attn: Gift Processing, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301. Services: The funeral will be at 2 p.m. June 4 at Haisley Funeral Home. A guestbook is available at www.haisleyfuneralhome.com.
