REVEREND MONSIGNOR IRVINE NUGENT, 85, born to Francis and Teresa (Maguire) Nugent, in Omagh, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland, U.K. Ordained a Priest June 6, 1954 in Ireland and came to Florida that same year, a priest of the Diocese of St. Augustine. He served in the Dioceses of St. Augustine, Orlando and Palm Beach for 60 years. He served the faithful, of St. Helen's and Vero Beach, for 38 years, 23 years as Pastor and as Pastor Emeritus, assisting for 15 years in retirement. He is survived by his sister, Mrs. M.E. (Betty) Sweeney and Nieces and Nephews in the U.S and Ireland. The Celebration of his Life will begin on Monday April 28th at 12Noon with his body being received at St. Helen Church, he will lie in repose with a Parish Mass celebrated at 6:00PM. On Tuesday April 29th there will be a Parish Mass at 12Noon and he will lie in repose until a Vigil Service at 7:00PM. On Wednesday April 30th at 11:00AM, the Most Reverend Gerald M. Barbarito, Bishop of Palm Beach, will be the Main Celebrant of a Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will follow at Crestlawn Cemetery, in Vero Beach. Memorial contributions may be given to: St. Helen Church 100th Anniversary Fund or the Diocese of Palm Beach Fund for Vocations.
