FRED TAYLOR
Mr. Frederick Almy Taylor, 91, of Vero Beach, Florida passed away Saturday, May 30, 2014 at the VNA/Hospice House. Fred was born in New York City and moved to Vero Beach in the early 1980's from Santa Barbara, California. Fred graduated from Stauton Military Academy before serving in the US Marine Corps during World War II. After his release from duty Fred attended and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachlor of Science in Economics and the Wharton School of Business. He began his financial career with Kidder-Peabody in Illinois before forming his own financial consulting firm in Santa Barbara, California. Fred was a member of the Orchid Island Golf and Beach Club and the Vero Beach Bridge Center. He went on to became a Life Master of Bridge. Throughout his life he enjoyed many activities including golf, tennis, hiking and canoeing as well as friends and family. Survivors include his wife Beverly, sons James S. Taylor of Santa Barbara, California and John "Jeb" Taylor of Buffalo, Wyoming, daughter Susan Sawtelle of Santa Rosa, California, stepsons Bradley Swartz of Savanna, Georgia and Christopher Frew of Hersey, Pennsylvania, eight grandchildren, five great grandchildrn and six step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife Louise Taylor. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to VNA/Hospice House, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960. The family will receive friends at the Orchid Island Beach Clubhouse, 3-5 PM, Sunday, June 8, 2014. Arrangements are by Strunk Funeral Home and Crematory, Vero Beach.
