Gerald E. Beal, 73, died July 7, 2009, at his home. He was born in Elton, Ohio, and moved to Port St. Lucie in 1992, coming from Venice, Calif. Before retirement, he was a carpenter foreman in the heavy construction industry. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the Army. Survivors include his wife, Gerri Beal of Port St. Lucie; daughter, Joyce Magallon of Port St. Lucie; son, Mike Von Hedemann of Aliquippa, Pa.; mother, Ruth Owens of Victorville, Calif.; two sisters and a brother, all of California; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, James Von Hedemann; father, Edward Beal; and brother, Jay Beal. Memorial contributions can be made to the Treasure Coast Hospice, Port St. Lucie Chapter, 10360 S.
