Alice Chamis Obituary

Alice Robida Chamis, 67, died March 12, 2013, at home. She was born in Middletown, Conn., moving to Port St. Lucie in 2008. She received her bachelor's degree from the University of Connecticut and paralegal certification from the Hartford College for Women. In her 41-year career in law she worked for four law firms, ending at Halloran & Sage LLP. She was a member of the Central Connecticut Paralegal Association and founding member of the Connecticut Association of Real Property Professionals, serving as its first corresponding secretary. She was the secretary for the Spanish Lakes Golf Village Homeowners Association. She helped organize the charity Seniors Supporting Soldiers. Survivors include her husband of 47 years, William Chamis of Port St. Lucie; mother, Irene Robida of Cromwell, Conn.; daughter, Deborah Winicki of Stafford Springs, Conn.; sons, William Chamis Jr. of Roselle, N.J., and Jeffrey Chamis of Port St. Lucie; one brother; three sisters; and eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Robida. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 3375 20th St., Suite 100, Vero Beach, FL 32960, www/redcross.org/charitable-donations. Services: A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. March 19 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Port St. Lucie. Following the Mass, a reception will be at the clubhouse of the Spanish Lakes Golf Village, Caribbean Drive, Port St. Lucie. Arrangements are by Aycock Funeral Home, Port St. Lucie.
