Alice Evelyn DeBlase passed peacefully on June 24, 2013. She was not too old, but old enough to have experienced many many things. She has been a resident of Florida almost half of her life. Alice was born in Chicago, graduated from Loretto Academy, and raised her children on the south side of Chicago working her way through the south suburbs. In 1976 she became a permanent resident of Florida working at the Broward Community College Bookstore and later The Beach Shop, Bealls and Stein Mart in Vero Beach, Florida. She leaves behind many who she cared dearly for; her brothers James (Kathleen) and Gerald (Melanie) O'Rourke and their children, her sons Philip (Carmen), Thomas (Linda), Michael (Nancie), grandchildren James, Anthony (Erika), Caitlin, Joey, Jon-Thomas, Danielle, Anjelica, her step-grandchildren Craig, Emilie and Caleb Rappel and her best friend and daughter Josette (Robert) Rappel who were inseparable and who she shared everything with. Alice is preceded in death by her parents Virginia Mae and Raymond E. O'Rourke, and her grandson LCPL Philip J. Martini. Family services will follow in mid-July in Chicago, Illinois. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of the United States and/or St. Jude Children's Memorial Hospital.
