ROBERT EVERS Obituary

ROBERT NEALE EVERS June 20, 1923 - November 28, 2013 Robert Neale Evers, M.D., was born to Stella and Edward Evers
in Dyersville, Iowa on June 20, 1923. His siblings include Dolly Schuster, deceased, John Evers, deceased, and Tom Evers, deceased. Dr. Evers graduated from University of Missouri, 1944, Washington University Medical School 1948, and completed psychiatry and neurology training in Philadelphia in 1952. He was in the Navy from 1942- 1950 and in the Army from 1950- 1952. Dr. Evers married Gloria Elizabeth Mueller (also known as Betty) in 1946. He had a private practice in psychiatry in Toledo, Ohio, from 1955 until retirement in 1990. He was on the staff of St. Vincent's Hospital, Toledo Hospital, and St. Charles Hospital. Dr. Evers moved to both Davenport, Iowa, and Vero Beach, Florida, in 1991. He returned to live in Toledo, Ohio in 1997 until 2002. At that point he moved to Vero Beach full time. Dr. Evers loved music including swing and Dixie land jazz. He played the clarinet and saxophone. He was an athlete excelling in baseball, golf, skiing and running. His daughter Ann Evers Spodnik, M.D. (Mark) predeceased him in 2010. His wife of 65 years, Betty died in 2011. He is survived by Robert J. Evers, M.D. of Park City, Utah (Anne), Mari Koepke, of Sebastian Florida (Randy), and James Evers of Honolulu, Hawaii (Gail). Dr. Evers and his family were most appreciative of his excellent medical care from Dr. Garrick Kantzler, M.D. and Dr. Alec Lui, M. D. He also spoke highly of palliative care and his attention from VNA Hospice and Hospice House were extraordinary. Dr. Evers will be laid to rest in Dyersville, Iowa alongside his siblings, parents, wife and eldest daughter after a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 6, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville.
