JOHN F. HUFFE, 87, passed away Friday, January 31, 2014 at his residence in the Villas of the Palms in Port St Lucie, FL. He was born in New York City and went to schools in New York and New Jersey. John graduated from Glasboro State Teacher's College with a B.S. degree in education and he received his Master Degree in Administration and Supervision from Rutgers University. He taught and coached in the North Plainfield schools for 15 years. He was the founder of the Willis School for Exceptional Children for 5 years. He moved to Boca Raton in 1970 and became the founding Headmaster of Boca Raton Academy for 14 years. He served as Dean of Students at Lynn University in Boca Raton for 7 years before retiring to Port St Lucie in 1993. John was a veteran of World War II and served in the aviation branch of the U.S. Navy. He was an avid sports fan and loved to travel in his motor home with his dear and faithful wife, Joanne. They also enjoyed many cruises, with Alaska being their favorite. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Therese, the mother of their son, David of Olathe, KS, and daughter, Kathleen Riegler of West Jefferson, NC. Survivors include 4 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. He was a life-time member of the National Education Association, numerous motor home clubs and an avid supporter of the Williamsburg Foundation. Visitation will be from 3:00 till 7:00pm, Friday, February 7th at the Forest Hills-Byrd, Young, and Prill Funeral Home in Port St Lucie, FL. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 pm, Saturday, February 8th at Holy Family Catholic Church in Port St. Lucie, FL. Immediately following will be a Celebration of Life at The Villas of the Palms Clubhouse.
