LAWRENCE G. LYNN March 22, 1938-February 8, 2014 Lawrence Gotfredson Lynn, 75, of Vero Beach, Florida, died peacefully on February 8, 2014 with family by his side at Indian River Medical Center in Vero Beach, Florida, after a long struggle with Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS). He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Madeline Smith Lynn of Vero Beach, his son, Lawrence Lynn of Palmer, Alaska, and his daughter, Kristina Lynn Huddle, of Silver Spring, Maryland. He also leaves his two brothers, James F. Lynn, Jr. of Tyler, Texas and Thomas W. Lynn of New Canaan, Connecticut and Vero Beach. In addition, he leaves five beloved grandchildren, Meghan, James, Jack, Abby and Joe, plus numerous nieces, and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his parents, James F. and Phyllis G. Lynn of Washington, DC. Born in Detroit, Michigan, Larry grew up in Washington, DC where he graduated from St. Albans School for Boys. Following military service with the US Army, where he was stationed at home and in Europe, he returned to the Washington area. He graduated college at American University; subsequently he founded the commercial property management firm, Corby- Lynn Real Estate, together with the late Karl Corby, Jr. Thereafter, he headed his own real estate firm in both Washington and Leesburg, Virginia. A long time resident of Chevy Chase, Maryland he and Madeline later moved to Hamilton, Virginia. Larry was a member of the Chevy Chase Club, The Metropolitan Club and Loudon Golf and Country Club. Upon retiring to Florida, Larry and Madeline first lived at Baytree in Vero where Larry served on the Baytree Board of Directors for seven years. Recently they moved to Indian River Club, also in Vero. Known as a gentle man and greatly loved by his many friends, Larry had a wonderful smile and sense of humor. He was a good storyteller, avid reader, good golfer and a devoted family man. Nothing pleased him more than to be with his family, particularly his grandchildren, each of whom he cherished. A memorial service celebrating Larry's life is planned for Saturday, March 8th, 2014 at 10:00AM at the Little Sanctuary, St. Albans School, Washington, DC. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made in his name to: Indian River Medical Center Foundation, 1000 36th Street, Vero Beach, FL 32960. I was deeply saddened to read of Larry's passing. I worked with him weekly as one of his real estate clients in Leesburg, VA for over 7 years. He was an wonderful person and a top-notch business man. Everyone will miss his upbeat smile and friendly personality who had the special pleasure of working with him or knowing him.

Once in a while, if you're really lucky, special people enter your life. Our neighborhood was truly blessed when Larry and his lovely wife Madeline moved to our little lane in Baytree/Vero. Larry was a beautiful and giving person who not only served our community with great thought and true caring as a member of our Board for many years, but he also became a cherished and dear friend to many of us. You just knew that here was a man filled with integrity, but he was never haughty about it. It was our joy to have known him and yes, how lucky we all truly were to have had Larry as a part of us.
