Mary McConkey Obituary

MARY KATHERIN E BROCKMAN MCCONKE Y Our beloved mother and grandmother, Mary Katherine Brockman McConkey, went home to be with the Lord Jesus Thursday, April 26, 2007 in Roswell, Georgia. She was born March 11, 1919 in Nokomis, Illinois. She lived on Jenkins Road in Ft. Pierce for 54 years. She was a bookkeeper until the age of 81, working locally for ripson Dairy, Padrick Chevrolet, Peeler Construction, Burke's Roofing, Gubler's Accounting, Cassen's Fruit Co., and International Stone and Marble. She was a longtime member of Community United Methodist Church and taught a children's Sunday school class for many years. She especially loved and supported the youth ministries. Mary was affectionately known to her family as Mommar and she had a way of making all believe they were Mommar's favorite. Mary was the daughter of the late William F. Brockman and Daise Schulz Brockman. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Eloise Weaver and two brothers, William and Robert Brockman. She is survived by a sister, Ruth (Fred) Santomassino of Satellite Beach; two daughters, Sheila (Bill) Moyer of Clinton, TN; Vicki (Bob) Swigart of Marietta, GA; three sons, Keith McConkey of Pueblo, CO, John McConkey of Vero Beach, and Will McConkey (Nancy) of Ft. Pierce. She is also survived by fifteen grandchildren, Katherine Moyer Carroll of Ft. Collins, CO, and husband, John; Craig Moyer of Roanoke, VA, and wife Christine; Andrea Moyer McCurry of Rome, GA, and husband, Mac; Susan Moyer Fuehrer of Brooklyn, NY, and husband, Dave; Anna Swigart Miller of Alexandria, VA, and husband Nicholas; Clint Swigart of Tampa; Steven Swigart of Athens, GA; Chris and Jason McConkey of Pueblo, CO, Michael McConkey of San Diego, CA and wife, Dawn; Brock McConkey of North Hampton, MA; Johnathan McConkey of Vero Beach; Josh McConkey of Orlando, and wife Jen; Marc McConkey of Palm Bay; and Joel McConkey of Gainesville; nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A service of celebration and remembrance of Mary's life will be held Tuesday, May 1 at Community United Methodist Church with the Reverend Steven Coss officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:30 AM and the service will start at 10:30. Interment will follow at the White City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mary McConkey Scholarship Fund at Community United Methodist Church, 3114 Okeechobee Road, Ft. Pierce, FL 34947.
