Louie R. Kindell

PIQUA — Louie R. Kindell, 61 of Piqua, died peacefully at 11:00 am Monday, March 3, 2014 at his residence.

He was born September 30, 1952 in Piqua to the late Robert E. and Mabel (Congdon) Kindell. He married Julia M. Benkert May 30, 1980 in Piqua; and she survives.

Other survivors include a son Graham B. Kindell of Piqua; a sister Virginia Nickel of Piqua; two brothers Ed Kindell Sr. of Florida, Gary Kindell of Florida; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved Jack Russell "Tiki".

Mr. Kindell was a 1970 graduate of Piqua Central High School and the University of Cincinnati in 1976.

He was appointed the initial Executive Director of the Miami County Chapter of the Big Brothers/Big Sisters organization, a position he held for four years. He then was accepted to the University of Dayton School of Law where he served as Editor of its Law Review. He earned his Juris Doctorate Magna cum Laude in 1983 and returned to Piqua to establish his general practice of law and expanding it to include Mediation Services in 1992 and in 2004 became the first Supreme Court approved domestic relations mediator in Miami, Shelby and Darke counties.

He was an active member of the Miami County Bar Association, the Ohio State Bar Association, Hemmlock Gun Club, Epicurian Club where he served as its event coordinator, served as a former president of the Piqua Country Club, enjoyed scuba diving, sport shooting and motorcycling. He will be deeply missed by his loving family and many people who so enjoyed his conversation and friendship.

A service to honor his life will begin at 11:00 am Friday March 7, 2014 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Judge Jeffrey M. Welbaum officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 pm Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers contributions are suggested to the Miami County Animal Shelter, 1110 N.
