DAYTON — David L. Gaessler, 69, of Dayton, passed away Thursday, August 7, 2014, at Koester Pavilion, Troy. He was born September 20, 1944, in Dayton, to the late Lee Gaessler and Josephine (Ellenbogen) Gaessler of Dayton.

Mr. Gaessler is survived by a daughter, Angel Turner of Tipp City; three grandsons, Hunter (Shelby) Turner, Nyles Turner, and Ian Turner; a brother, John (Connie) Gaessler of Tenn.; and two sisters, Judy Berger of Dayton and Joellen Layne of Vandalia.

David served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and retired from General Motors Truck & Bus in Moraine. He was a member of the Celtic Club of Dayton.

A funeral service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, August 12, at Hale-Sarver Family Funeral Home, 284 N. Miami St., West Milton, with Chaplain John Shelton officiating. Full military honors will be conducted by the Tipp City American Legion #586 Honor Guard.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Private burial will be in Dayton National Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Miami County, P.O. Box 502, Troy, OH 45373. Online memories may be left for the family at
