STUART, Fla. — Ellen Frances Tarbutton, age 93, of Stuart, Florida, formerly of Troy, Ohio, passed away on March 19, 2014 at the home of Linda Keddy where she resided.
Ellen was born in Springfield, Ohio on May 9, 1920, the daughter of James A. and Mabel Eugle Tarbutton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Robert Tarbutton, her sister, Ruth Tarbutton Barcafer and her lifetime friend and partner, Mary Louise Smick.
Ellen was a graduate of Troy High School, Miami-Jacobs College, Dayton, Ohio and the GM Dale Carnegie Course in Effective Leadership. As a career woman, Ellen worked for many years as a Divisional Buyer for the Delco Products Division of General Motors in Dayton, Ohio. Upon retirement from GM, Ellen and Mary moved to Stuart, Florida.
Ellen was an avid golfer, having achieved holes-in-one at both Miami Shores Golf Club in Troy, Ohio and Miles-Grant Country Club in Stuart, Florida. She also was an avid bridge player and always enjoyed playing cards. She was a former member of the Troy Elks Lodge and the Miles-Grant Country Club in Stuart.
She is survived by her god-daughter, Sandra Ellen Schaefer and husband, Kenneth of Hilton Head Island, SC.
A memorial service will be held on April 22nd at 2:00 PM at Fernhills Memorial Gardens in Stuart with interment to follow.
