COLUMBUS - Betty I. Finfrock, formerly of 612 S. Sunset Drive, Piqua, more recently of Columbus, died at 6:53 p.m. Monday Oct. 8, 2012, at Kobacker House, Columbus.
She was born April 11, 1914, and raised in Covington to the late James G. and Glenna (Bashor) Rench. She married Lewis O. Finfrock on Oct. 10, 1934, in Richmond, Ind.; he preceded her in death on May 26, 1964, following 30 years of marriage. She lived in Piqua more than 30 years, and then moved to Columbus in 2008 and lived with her daughter, Melanie.
Mrs. Finfrock is survived by her daughters, Sheryl (Terry) Walker of Piqua, Melanie Finfrock of Columbus; 11 grandchildren, Kevin (Nancy) Walker, Amy (Tony) Young, Cyndy (Jim) Ray, Lisa Finfrock, Steve Finfrock, Ron Finfrock, David Finfrock, Scott Finfrock, Jim Finfrock and Teresa (Shannon) Mason; twenty-four great-grandchildren: two great great grandchildren; and a sister, Pauline Whitmer of Bradford. She was preceded in death by a sister, Sue Jackson; and two sons, James A. Finfrock and Ronald L. Finfrock.
Betty was a 1932 graduate of Covington High School and attended the Bliss Business School of Columbus and the Ideal Business School of Piqua. She had worked numerous places before retiring form the Covington Building & Loan. She was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical & Reformed Church its Sigma Circle, the Covington Fire Department Women's Auxiliary-the "Spitfires," numerous bridge clubs, and the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 275, and volunteered her time at the Salvation Army and as a tutor at Favorite Hill School. During her sixth-grade year, she started the Musical Maids orchestra, where she played the violin and they performed at many functions. While in Columbus, before her illness, she had attended the Active Day & Heritage Adult Day Care Center. Betty was a very caring, loving and generous person who will be missed by her family and friends
A funeral service to honor and celebrate her life will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Dr. Keith Gebhart officiating.
Private burial will be in Miami Memorial Park, Covington.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Kobacker House Ohio Health Foundation, 180 E. Broad St., Columbus, OH 43215.
