PIQUA — Betty A. Monnin, 88, of Piqua, died at 4:06 am Monday April 21, 2014 at Hospice of Dayton. She was born November 15, 1925 in Piqua to the late Purcell J. and Ann (Buirley) Schwartz. She married Isidore L. "Bud" Monnin May 27, 1947 in Newport; he preceded her in death December 2, 2008.
Survivors include four daughters and a son-in-law, Sharon Herbe of Piqua, Carol Yaney of Troy, Anita Branam of Piqua, Lois (Wayne) Kelley of West Rutland, Vermont; five grandchildren, Stephanie Yaney of Troy, Christopher Branam, Jennifer Maness, Jason Branam, Jeremy Branam all of Piqua; twelve great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a grandson Douglas Yaney, Jr. and a sister Pat Sink.
Betty was a 1944 graduate of Piqua Catholic High School and worked along side her husband as the office manager and co-owner of the family business, Piqua Wheel Alignment. As an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church she was a member of its Altar Society, volunteered countless hours on the Label Committee which funded many Parish needs. She was a generous supporter of religious charities and the Bethany Center.
She, with her husband Bud, enjoyed Ballroom Dancing for many years and loved playing cards, fishing, entertaining guests and working with ceramics. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be deeply missed by her family and many friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Friday April 25, 2014 at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Thomas L. Bolte as the primary Celebrant. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 pm Thursday at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home where a prayer service will be conducted at 5:00 pm.
