PIQUA — Charles R. "Ray" Tabler, 82, of Piqua, died at 9:19 p.m. Saturday Aug. 2, 2014, at the Piqua Manor Nursing Home. He was born Feb. 22, 1932, in Piqua to the late A. Raymond and Mabel (Eicher) Tabler. He married Dorothy M. Vogler on July 19, 1957, in Piqua; and she survives.

Other survivors include a daughter, Bonnie R. (Michael D.) Davis of Piqua; a son, James A. (Lisa) Tabler of Piqua; seven grandchildren, Erica (Chad) Brogan, Dustin (Kara) Davis, Sean (Jen) Davis, Tyler Davis, Ben Tabler, Brittany (Doug) Smith, Christopher Tabler; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Patricia Starrett of Piqua; and a brother, Thomas R. Tabler of Piqua. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Toopes.

Mr. Tabler was a 1950 graduate of Piqua Central High School and attended Ohio Northern University. He retired in 1995 as a Department Supervisor for Hobart Manufacturing/ITW following 38 years of service. He was a United States Navy veteran, having served during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Post #217 in Sidney, the Benevolent & Protective Order of the Elks Lodge #786 in Sidney and Westminster Presbyterian Church of Piqua. He enjoyed his family, bowling and golf, having shot a hole-in-one.

A service to honor his life will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, 2014, at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Chaplain John G. Shelton officiating. Burial will follow at Miami Memorial Park, Covington, where full military honors will be provided by the Veterans Elite Tribute Squad. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
