BRADFORD - Elva E. Colbert, 85, a lifetime resident of Bradford, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012, at Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy.
He was born Nov. 14, 1926, to the late Emerson and Irene (Penny) Colbert in Covington.
He served in the U. S. Army during World War II; retired from Westerville Creamery after 47 years of service; was a member of Bradford Presbyterian Church; former member of AMVETS Post No. 66, Covington and VFW No. 7262, Greenville; and was an avid baseball and racing fan.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Dorothy E. Colbert in 2004.
Elva is survived by two sons, Ron and his wife, Sue Colbert of Houston and Terry Colbert of Piqua; three grandchildren, Tami Long of Sidney, Sommer Frysinger of Piqua and Luke Colbert of Mt. Dora, Fla.; five great-grandchildren, Cole and Rowan Long, Collier and Carmyn Frysinger and Braedon Colbert; brother, Lowell Colbert of Florida; and two sisters, Juanita Cole of Nevada and Bonnie King of Florida.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012, at Stocker-Fraley Funeral Home, Bradford, with the Rev. Daryl Peeples Sr. officiating. Interment will be in Miami Memorial Park Cemetery, Covington, with military honors by the Veterans Elite Tribute Squad of Piqua. Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
