PIQUA - Ralph E. Marratta, 75, of Piqua, died at 10:20 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, at his residence.
He was born May 26, 1937, in Springfield to the late Logan and Melva (Burns) Marratta. He married Marilyn K. Holfinger June 28, 1959 in Canton, and she survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Douglas (Anne) Marratta of New York City, N.Y., Mark Marratta of Decatur, Ga.; two granddaughters, Charlotte Marratta and Rebecca Marratta; and two sisters, Betty Stanley and Marjorie Jones, both of Springfield.
Mr. Marratta attended Springfield City Schools, Ohio University and graduated from Wright State University. He located to Piqua to co-found Piqua Technologies, where he served as its controller until his retirement in 2005.
He then accepted an invitation to consult and mentor the expansion of the Angell-Demmell Company in Asia during its first year of operation in Fuging, China. He was a member of Greene Street United Methodist Church, the Mount Moriah Masonic Lodge of Jamestown, N.Y.
His commitment to the community was a priority as evidenced by his involvement and leadership with the Piqua Improvement Corporation where he served as its president, the Piqua Chamber of Commerce where he served as its director, the Miami County YMCA where he served as director and as a Mainstreet Piqua executive board member.
A service to honor his life will begin at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, at Greene Street United Methodist Church with Pastor Kenneth Stewart and The Rev. James Christy officiating. His family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Friday at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home.
