Helen Dolora Harrahy
WORCESTER - Helen Dolora (Gray) Harrahy, 94, died Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at the Rose Monahan Hospice Home surrounded by her loving family.
She leaves three daughters, Miriam Dorsey, of Worcester, Suzanne Lee and her husband David, of Holden, Christina Hebert and her husband Frederick, of Shrewsbury; nine grandchildren, John Dorsey, Jr. and his wife Angelique, of Philadelphia, James Dorsey and his wife Heidi of Auburn, Jennifer Dorsey of Maine, Erin Dorsey of Boston, Patricia Thurston of Holden, Melissa Daley and her husband Shawn, Christina Lee, Matthew Hebert and his wife Sarah, all of Worcester, Caitlin Hebert of Shrewsbury; and eleven great-grandchildren, Jack, Reid, Graham, Hayden, Declan, Thomas, Connor, Aydan, Paige, Samuel, and Max.
Her husband James F. J. Harrahy died in 1973. She was also predeceased by four sisters, Sr. Mary Dolora Gray, S.P., Catherine Kennedy, Ann B. Gray, and Elizabeth McCarthy.
Helen was born in Worcester, daughter of Thomas and Catherine (Gray) Gray. She graduated from Ascension High School and the St. Vincent Hospital School of Nursing. She was a Registered Nurse and worked as a private duty nurse at Saint Vincent Hospital as well as other area hospitals for several years.
She was a member of the Ascension Chapter of the Notre Dame Alumni, the St. Vincent Hospital Alumni, the Worcester Diocesan Council of Catholic Nurses and was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Parish.
Helen enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles, and most of all, she cherished the enjoyable times spent with her grand and great grandchildren.
The funeral will be Saturday, May 19, with a Mass at 9:30 a.m. in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street, Worcester. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester. There are no calling hours. The Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster Street, Worcester, is directing arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society c/o Our Lady of the Angels Parish, 1222 Main Street, Worcester, 01603, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
