Keith, Charles - Holden  
Charles E. Keith, 87 Holden - Charles E. Keith, 87, of Holden, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 14, 2014 at Saint Vincent Hospital after an illness. Born in Worcester and raised in West Boylston, Charlie was the son of Morris B. and Iva (Pratt) Keith and lived in Worcester before moving to Holden in 1953. Charlie is a 1945 graduate of Commerce High School in Worcester. While in high school, he joined the Army Specialized Training Reserve Program and later attended Massachusetts State University and Norwich University Military School in Northfield, Vermont. Charlie honorably served his country with the U.S. Army Constabulary from 1945 to 1947 in the European Theater of Operations. In 1950, Charlie married the love of his life, Virginia T. Patchulis of Worcester and together moved to Holden where they raised their two children. In 1948, he bought Laurel Hill Dairy, a milk distributorship which he ran in Holden for the following for 36 years. After his retirement, Charlie worked part-time at the U.S. Postal Service in Worcester for nearly 20 years. He was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Holden, its Worship and Music Committee, and served as an usher for many years. He was also a member of the Greendale retired Men's Club. He passionately followed the stock market and was the founding member of the Holden Investment Club which he served as president for many years. Their investment club was a member of the National Association of Investment Clubs and was recognized nationally as the "Top Performing Investment Club" in the country. After his retirement, Charlie enjoyed spending time with his wife vacationing winter months in Florida and summers on the Cape. Charlie had an engagingly dry sense of humor and loved to make people laugh. He will be remembered for his jokes and story-telling, but most importantly, as a man of great character and integrity. He leaves his loving wife of 64 years, Virginia T. (Patchulis) Keith; his son, Edward C. Keith of Shirley; his daughter, Susan M. Young of Holden; a step-brother, Richard Dunbar of Ormond Beach, FL; four grandchildren, Ashlee Savoe of Gardner, Misty Keith of Winchendon, Joshua Astles of Virginia and Charles Keith of Winchendon; six great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. A brother, Harold M. Keith predeceased him. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Charlie's family from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday, December 19, at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. A funeral service honoring his life will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 20, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Holden. Interment will follow at St. John's Cemetery in Worcester. Donations may be made in Charlie's memory to the Memorial Fund at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 346 Shrewsbury St., Holden, MA 01520. Kelley, Margaret - Worcester  
Margaret (Picard) Kelley, 95 WORCESTER - Margaret G. "Peggy" (Picard) Kelley. 95 of Worcester, passed away peacefully with her daughter gathered by her side, Tuesday December 16th 2014, joining in heaven her husband Joseph, daughter Diane and grandson Jay. Peggy was born in Worcester, the daughter of the late Levi and Flora (Gagnon) Picard. She grew up here, met and married the love of her life, Joseph P Kelley and enjoyed the next 54 years happily married before Joe passed away in 1998. Peggy worked over 36 years as a sales clerk for the former Ware Pratt Company before retiring. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy M. Griffis and her husband James; her grandchildren, Melanie Silva, Shawna Erickson, Brooke Mignogna and her husband Louis, Lee Mendeloff- Hill and her husband Steve, Janson Mendeloff, Stanley Griffis and his wife Janet, Scott, Christopher, and Sharon Griffis. Peg also leaves eight wonderful great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; extended family and friends. Besides her husband Joseph, her daughter, Diane C. Mendeloff passed away in 1994 and grandson, Jay Griffis passed away in 2006. Peggy was a devoted and active parishioner of the Cathedral of St Paul for over 70 years, during which she formed special friendships with several families. She was an accomplished baker, took great pride in preparing wonderful deserts for church bake sales, special occasions, family gatherings, the holidays and her pokeno group. Peggy and Joe enjoyed visiting Cape Cod, and traveling to Bermuda, Ireland, Alaska and Canada. Her happiest moments were spending time with family and friends. The Kelley family is deeply grateful to the Staff of the Jewish Healthcare Center and their Hospice team for their outstanding care, compassion and comfort they gave to our mother during a difficult time. A period of calling hours will be held Thursday, December 18th from 9:00 am to 10:30 am in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St, before proceeding to the Cathedral of St Paul, 15 Chatham St where her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am. Burial next to her husband, Joseph will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. Kennedy, Margaret - Clearwater, Fl  
Margaret Estelle Kennedy, 94 Clearwater, FL - Margaret E. Kennedy, 94, of Clearwater, Florida passed away peacefully on Friday, December 5th, 2014 at Suncoast Hospice surrounded by her family. She leaves her son Walter Kennedy and his wife Sanae of San Francisco, California; her son Brian Kennedy and his wife Susan of Sterling, Ma; her daughter-in-law, Sheila Kennedy of Midlothian, Virginia; her granddaughters Jillian Kennedy of Sterling, Ma and Brenna Kennedy of Philadelphia, PA, and her grandson Kevin Kennedy of Midlothian, Virginia, as well as many nieces and nephews. Her husband, Walter, her son Neil, and brother Earl Parenteau predeceased her. Margaret (Estelle) was born in Worcester, Ma, the son of Samuel and Marguerite (Giroux) Parenteau. She graduated from South High School in Worcester and shortly after moved to Oakland, California and worked for Kaiser Industries. She returned home to Massachusetts before World War II to assist with her mother and father's care. She married Walter Kennedy in 1946, where they made a home for most of their lives before retiring to Clearwater Florida in 1982. She was very active and outgoing and enjoyed tennis and skating in her early years, and golfing and exercise classes in her retirement years. She was a devout Red Sox and Patriots fan and followed her teams right through her last days. She had a keen eye for interior design, and enjoyed decorating her home. She cherished family vacations at Moody Beach in Maine and family reunions in Clearwater. She enjoyed trips to the beach with her grandchildren and friends. She loved baking for her family during family visits and holidays as well as shopping, parties, and holidays with her close friends in Clearwater. She was a life-long member of St. Michael's Church in Clearwater from its inception in 1982. The family is scheduling a memorial mass in January 2015.

LaFortune, Maurice - Hardwick  
Maurice J. LaFortune Hardwick - Maurice J. LaFortune, 87, passed away on Dec. 13th at his home. He was the husband of the late Mary (Trudeau) LaFortune. He leaves his son Mark LaFortune and his wife Cindy of Minot ND, his daughter Melissa LaFortune of Gilbertville, a daughter-in-law Linda LaFortune of Palmer, a brother Ernest in Florida, his sisters Rita Passeneau and Jean Morgan in New Hampshire and Doris and Alice LaFortune in Vermont, his grandchildren Erik LaFortune and his wife Kim of Sturbridge, Ryan LaFortune and his wife Christina of Sturbridge, Timothy Welsh of Gilbertville, Tiffany Welsh and her fiancé Paemon of Shrewsbury, Chelsea LaFortune and her fiancé Chris in Connecticut, and Christina, Ashley and Mark Jr. LaFortune all in North Dakota, as well as his great-grandchildren Ethan, Theodore, Ayden and Sophia. He was predeceased by his son Michael and by a brother Arthur. He was born in Winchendon son of Joseph and Yvon LaFortune and lived in Ware, moving to Gilbertville over 25 years ago. Maurice was a 42 year veteran of the Army Air Corps and US Air Force, where he was a crew and flight chief. He served as a guard at the Nuremburg Trials following World War II. As a civilian he worked in material handling and procurement for the Air Force at Westover AFB. He was a communicant of St. Aloysius Church, a member and Past Commander of the Gilbertville American Legion Post, a member of K of C Council 183 of Ware, and was very active at the Hardwick Senior Center, where he will be missed by his pals Glenn and Bob. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated in St. Aloysius Church in Gilbertville on Saturday Dec. 20th at 10am. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his name to St. Aloysius Church, Church St. Gilbertville MA 01031 or to St. Jude's Children's Hospital Memorial Program, 510 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105-1942. LaHair, Joseph - Holden  
Joseph F. LaHair, 70 Holden - Joseph F. LaHair, 70, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 12, 2014 at Rose Monahan Hospice Home, Worcester, following a courageous nine year battle with cancer. He was born in Worcester, a son of the late Joseph F. LaHair, Sr. and Mary (Brisebois) (LaHair) and Paul R. Allaire, step-father. Joe graduated from Wachusett Regional High School and Worcester Junior College, earning a degree in business management. He enjoyed long career working in information systems for several companies, including Harrington & Richardson, Inc. in Worcester and New England Firearms and H & R 1871, both in Gardner, where he retired from in 2004 as the manager of information systems. An avid golfer, Joe often played at Kettle Brook Golf Club in Paxton. He also enjoyed playing bocce and was a member of a league in Leominster. He loved Sudoku puzzles. Joe's beloved wife of 43 years, Christine A. (Ahearn) LaHair passed away in 2010. He will be missed by his only daughter, Dena M. and her husband, Simon-Peter McDonaugh of Raleigh, NC; his three granddaughters, Saxon Paige, Beatrix Marie and Pippa Louise McDonaugh; his loving friend and companion, Carol A. Murray of Shrewsbury; his aunt, Irene LaHair of Worcester; his many nieces and nephews and dear friends, and his wonderful cat, Barney. He was predeceased by his only sister, Beverly A. LaHair in 1989. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Joe's family on Monday, December 15, from 5-8 p.m. at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. His funeral will be held on Tuesday, December 16, from the funeral home with a Holy Mass of Christian Burial offered for the repose of his soul at 10 a.m. at Saint George's Catholic Church, 38 Brattle Street, Worcester. Nancy E. (Flynn) LaHair, 53 WORCESTER - Nancy E. (Flynn) LaHair, 53, of North Grosvernordale, Conn., and formerly of Worcester, died Monday, December 15, 2014 at the UMass-Memorial Medical Center after an illness. She leaves her husband of nine years, Philip J. LaHair; two sisters, Deborah A. Martel and her husband Edward of Worcester, and Linda M. Petty and her husband Jack of Barre; a brother, Thomas H. Flynn and his wife Susan of Worcester; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog Annie. Nancy was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Henry T. and Alice M. (Smith) Flynn. She lived in Worcester until moving to Conn. about ten years ago. Nancy graduated from Burncoat High School. She followed to complete several professional programs to master a variety of skills. She took medical assistant courses at the David Hale Fanning School. She was also trained as a phlebotomist. She completed the American Red Cross certified nursing assistant program. Nancy was on the staff at the Worcester Surgical Center for several years. Previously, she worked in the Labor and Delivery department at St. Vincent Hospital. She began her career in the offices of Dr. Michael Weinstein, a Worcester pediatrician. At one time, she was also a bus monitor for the Worcester Public Schools. Nancy was an accomplished athlete. She finished seven triathlons and participated in countless bicycle rides for charity. She loved the ocean and her favorite sport was swimming. She also enjoyed crocheting and knitting. Nancy was a deeply spiritual person, and was devoted to her family. Calling hours are Wednesday, December 17, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester. The funeral will be Thursday, December 18, from the funeral home with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Bernard's Church, 228 Lincoln St., Worcester. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Landry, Milton - Shrewsbury  
Milton R. Landry, Sr., 86 SHREWSBURY - Milton Richard Landry, Sr., 86, passed away quietly in his home on December 15, 2014 surrounded by his family. Milton was a much loved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He was the loving father of 14 children. Milton is survived by his wife, Barbara A. (Gregory) Landry; his children Lynn Couture and her husband, Paul, Susan Burns and her husband, Walter, Barbara Shea, Charles, Joseph, Paul and his wife, Ellen, Peter, David and his wife, Nancy, Mary and her wife, Betty Brigham, Carolyn Leonard and her husband, Martin, Milton Jr. and his wife, Shirley, Stephen and his wife, Michele, Christopher and his wife, Denise and a sister, Jeannette Hayes. He was a doting grandfather to 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his eldest child, Richard in 2006, his brother, Norman, his sisters, Dorothy "Mae" Donovan and Leona Goodell. Born in Worcester, he was the son of the late Charles and Henrietta (Blanchard) Landry. After graduating from South High School in Worcester, Milton married his high school sweetheart, Barbara on February 10, 1948 and together they created a strong loving family. He was a wonderful husband and father who bent over backwards to support his families' individual endeavors. Milton was the President/Owner of Dalco Contracting whose many projects can be found throughout Worcester County at schools, parks and private homes. He was a member of the Adelphi Council # 4181 Knights of Columbus, the Harmony Club and he attended weekly Mass at Saint Mary's Church in Shrewsbury. Family vacations were never far from the seashore where Milton drew great inspiration from the ocean. He enjoyed many deep-sea- fishing weekends with his sons and daughters. In his retirement years, Milton enjoyed following C-Span as a result of his interest in politics and government issues. He could give a short bio on any legislator in the House or Senate. His self- taught computer skills allowed for Milton to keep up with world events and his love for the stock market by online trading. He inspired his children with his steadfast character and noble spirit. He will remain forever in our hearts. The family would like to thank the Gentiva Hospice staff who assisted in Milton's care. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Milton's family on Thursday December 18, 2014 from 4-7 PM in the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury. His funeral will be on Friday December 19, 2014 with a funeral Mass celebrated at 10 AM in Saint Mary's Church, 640 Main Street, Shrewsbury. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. Robert D."Pitt" Lapierre OXFORD - Robert D."Pitt" Lapierre, 57 passed away peacefully on Monday, December 15, 2014. He was born in Whitinsville, MA the son of the late Roland Lapierre and Claire (Bassett) Lapierre of Hernando, FL. He also leaves two sons Daniel of Uxbridge and Michael of Thompson, CT; a sister Suzanne Haganey & her husband James of FL; a brother Richard & his wife Karen of Oxford; several nieces & nephews. He was a graduate of Northbridge High School and later worked for the Town of Northbridge Highway Dept.. He was an avid sports fan he especially enjoyed the Patriots and Red Sox. The family wishes to thank the staff at Sunbridge Care & Rehab for all their excellent care. Friends and family are invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, December 18, 2014 from 5-7PM in Pillsbury Funeral Home 163 Main St. Spencer. Laurin, John - West Boylston  
John Laurin, 93 West Boylston - John Laurin, 93, a West Boylston resident for 63 years, passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2014 at Sterling Village after a brief illness. He was born in Biella, Italy, the son of Secondo and Delcisa (Iori) Laurin before immigrating with his parents to Worcester at the age of three. He leaves his loving wife of 69 years, Lena (Stranieri) Laurin; two daughters, J. Deborah Hengen of Juno Beach, FL and Della Lee Sullivan of Troy, MI; a sister, Carrie Stranieri of Worcester; beloved caretaker and friend, Sharon Forsberg DeCarolis of Worcester; four nieces; two nephews; and many grand nieces and grand nephews. He was predeceased by a son-in-law, Clifford F. Davis. John graduated from Worcester Boys Trade School in 1939 and enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1942. He served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater until he was honorably discharge in 1945. He was a union carpenter for many years and was a foreman at Swanson and Jenzen Construction Company retiring in 1986. He was a member of the Carpenters Local 107 in Worcester and the Worcester Homing Pigeon Club. He built two of his own homes and he enjoyed horses, boxing and wrestling. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a calling hour on Thursday, Dec. 18, from 11 to 12 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 12 noon in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Worcester Animal Rescue League, 139 Holden Street, Worcester, MA 01606.
