Ronald Lareau Obituary

Ronald J. Lareau, 68, of 11 Craig St. in the Rochdale section of Leicester, died Sunday, May 29, 2011 in St. Vincent Hospital after being stricken ill.

He leaves his wife of 43 years, Pauline C. (Delage) Lareau; two sons: John J.M. Lareau and his wife Andrea of Ashland, and Joseph R.E. Lareau and his wife Bolanle of Ghana, West Africa; two daughters: Lisa A. Coyle and her husband Dennis of Leicester, and Lynda J. Lareau of Worcester; three sisters: Marie Vezina and her husband Roger of Ossippee, NH, Carol Lareau, S.S.J. of Chicopee, and Theresa Goodrich of Webster, seven grandchildren: Sean, Nicholas & Jessica Coyle, Oliver, Rebecca, Mary & Damien Lareau, several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Lareau was born in Worcester, son of Joseph M. and Mary (Brooks) Lareau. He graduated from St. Peter's High School, received his BA from Lowell Tech. and his MBA from Clark University. He served his country during the Vietnam War in the United States Army. He was Vice President of Human Resources at Commerce Insurance Company in Webster for several years before retiring. He previously worked at Johnson Steel & Wire in Worcester in the Human Resource Department. He was a member of St. Aloysius-St. Jude Church where he was a lector and Chairman of their Finance Committee and served on the Parish Council. He was the Finance Secretary of the Leicester Knights of Columbus Council 4528. He was a member of VFW Post 7556 Rochdale and American Legion-Shannon-Davis Post 205. He enjoyed gardening, the Boston Red Sox, the Boston Celtics and the New England Patriots. His greatest love was his family, especially his grandchildren.

The funeral will be held Friday, June 3 from MORRISON-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main Street, Leicester with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Aloysius-St. Jude Church, 489 Pleasant St., Leicester. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Thursday from 4:00-7:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Sister of St. Joseph, Mount Marie, 32 Lower Westfield Rd., Holyoke, MA 01040.
