As my lifelong mentor, Dr. Pappas nurtured my commitment to a career serving people in need. He encouraged me in the skills necessary to make an impact in the fields of mental health and education.

Dear Martha -- our sincere regrets and sadness at Arthur's passing --
in my younger years at AHS back in the early 1950s, I recall 'Zeke's' excellence in sports and even more his simple upper class friendliness at the time to this "lowly" freshman --
but the personal and unexpected bonus for me continued years later -- his eventual ties over many years to the Red Sox and Fenway and mine for a similar period with the Patriots, Bruins and Garden allowed our paths to continue to cross --
what an unexpected pleasure -- to me, as obviously to so many others, he was a special guy -- our prayers are with you both --

Martha & The Entire Pappas Family,
I wish to express my deepest sympathies in the passing of a great man. As you are well aware, Arthur is an "Auburn Kid" who did well for himself and chose to share his success with others. We in the Auburn community and elsewhere are extremely grateful for his generosity and time he gave to so many causes. Auburn is truly a better place because of him and you. God Bless.

The passing of the legendary Dr. Arthur Pappas, MD, caused us to dig deep into our archives to share a video project we created in his honor in 1998. When we initially pitched the idea for the video, Dr. Pappas rejected it. I'm not sure why he ultimately agreed to it, but I well recall how the audience loved it. RIP, Dr. Pappas! You were truly one of a kind.

Arthur will be missed greatly. He was an innovator in orthopedic care, education, and research. He applied cutting edge practices to sports medicine for the benefit ot athletes at all levels. His pediatric patients loved him with good reason; his concern for them and every patient was evident. The patient was always first. He was a role model for physicians and all health care professionals. With the passing of an individual like Arthur, the void is never filled.

We worked together many years ago at UMass and you were always gracious with your time to answer an orthopedic question.
Years later you and Martha have transformed Auburn schools and their Park & Recreation offerings. I don't even live in town but I feel such pride and joy when I see the new high school fields and gymnasium that you and Martha helped to bring to Auburn.
You NEVER wanted the praise just the outcomes.
God Speed!
