Claire M. Harvey

HOLDEN - Claire M. (Lynch) Harvey, 86, of Holden and formerly of Worcester, died Thursday, August 10, 2017 at the Notre Dame Long Term Care Center surrounded by her loving family.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 40 years, Raymond L. Harvey, who died in 1994.

Claire leaves her children, John F. Harvey and his wife Elizabeth of Holden, Eileen J. Perron and her husband Daniel of Auburn, Neil R. Harvey and his wife Mary of Holden, and Sheila M. Fitzgerald and her husband Timothy of Holden with whom she lived prior to her illness; eighteen grandchildren, John, Matthew, Timothy, Christopher and Cara Harvey, Matthew Perron, Danielle Sikonski, John, Brian and Mary Perron, Michael, Maria, Patrick, Catherine and Anna Harvey, and Neil, Clare and Colin Fitzgerald; three great-grandchildren, Emma and Luke Harvey, and Charlotte Perron; a sister, Beverly M. Johnson of Worcester; a brother, William F. Lynch of West Boylston; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her brothers, John A. and Robert P. Lynch and her sister, Jane A. Tivnan.

Claire was born in Worcester, daughter of John and Mary Agnes (O'Brien) Lynch and graduated from Ascension High School and the St. Vincent Hospital School of Nursing.

Before raising her children, she worked as a nurse at the Wyman-Gordon Co. She also volunteered her time and skills at Marillac Manor over the course of many years.

She was a member of the St. Vincent Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association, the Diocesan Council of Catholic Nurses, the Ascension Chapter of the Notre Dame Alumnae Association, the Friday Afternoon Club, and the Guild of Our Lady of Providence. Claire had an unwavering faith in God and was a member of North American Martyrs parish and the former St. Charles Borromeo parish. Claire most enjoyed the time spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all of her family and friends.

Claire's family would like thank Dr. George Abraham and the staff of Notre Dame Long Term Care Center for the compassionate and loving care of their mother.

Calling hours at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester are Sunday, August 13, from 4 to 7 p.m. The funeral will be Monday, August 14, from the funeral home with a Mass at 10 a.m. in North American Martyrs Church, 8 Wyoma Drive, Auburn. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester.
