Dorothy J. (Richards) Haemer, 95

Clinton - Dorothy J. (Richards) Haemer, 95, passed away Friday, August 10, 2018, in Holden Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center, Holden, after a brief illness.

She is survived by a son, Thomas J. Haemer, Jr., and his wife, Anne, of Clinton; five daughters: Mary Ann Russell of Woodinville, WA, Margaret M. Haemer, and her husband, Kenneth Packer, of Averill Park, NY, Dorothy A. Himmer and her husband, Rocky, of Holden, Elizabeth Shaughnessy and her husband, Kevin, of Rutland, and Judith Lipka, and her husband, David, of Clinton; eight grandchildren: Chad Russell, Sarah Haemer, Kate Candiloro, Michael Himmer, Carrie Himmer, Grady Shaughnessy, Meghan Sweeney, and Jeffrey Lipka; and ten great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Thomas Joseph "Joe" Haemer, who died in 1999, and their son, Robert J. Haemer, who died in 1979. Eight siblings, Oscar Clarence, Helena, Margaret, Alice and Theresa Richards, Mary Lilttle, and Anna Hergenroeder, also predeceased her.

Dorothy was born and raised in Clinton, daughter of Oscar and Annie (Nee) Richards, and was a lifelong resident. She was a graduate of Clinton High School, and the former Clinton Hospital School of Nursing.

For many years, she worked as a Registered Nurse at Clinton Hospital, retiring 30 years ago. Upon retirement, she and her husband, Joe, enjoyed travelling all over the United States.

A member of St. John the Guardian of Our Lady Parish, the former Our Lady of the Rosary Parish, and the Clinton Senior Center, she enjoyed ceramics, playing bingo, and taking her chances on scratch tickets.

Dorothy's funeral will be held on Monday, August 13, 2018 from the McNally & Watson Funeral Home, 304 Church St., with a Mass at 1:00 p.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church, 80 Union St. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Lancaster. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours at the funeral home on Sunday, August 12, 2018, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the Haemer family suggests that memorial donations be made to Holden Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center, Activities Fund, 32 Mayo Dr., Holden, MA 01520.
