I met Fran about 50 years ago when he, Davis Crompton, and Philip Heywood led an early May birdwalk from Elm Park..He impressed me as a man who loved nature AND people.

Uncle Fran's spirit lives on......Nieces and Nephews of Uncle Fran,
Thursday evening, one of Uncle Fran's youngest fans, my son Jack (8), approached me and extended his palms to challenge me in a handslap contest and even applied some of Uncle Fran's advanced flinching/thumb hold moves. Great memories of a wonderful man

It was a pleasure to run into Fran in the field, looking for birds. He helped me see an Upland Sandpiper at Worcester Airport a few years ago. He was the best a birder can be. Your family's loss is shared in a small way by all the nature lovers he met and helped over the years.

Dear Fran, While driving past Indian Lake this afternoon I saw five swans and thought that they must have come to say good-bye, God bless.

Dear Family and Friends of Fran,
I so enjoyed my years working with Fran on various bird counts for Broad Meadow Brook wildlife Sanctuary. He was a dear quiet and yet passionate man.

Dear family of Fran,
I can't begin to tell you the enthusiasm your dear relative invoked in me about birding and nature in general. Fran always left you wanting to know more and taught you something new anytime you were fortunate to be in the field with him. I will dearly miss him.
Love and peace to all of you.
