WORCESTER - It is with great sadness that we announce the death of the Reverend Dr. Frederick George Wedemeyer, on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at the age of 81.

Fred will be lovingly remembered by his wife Kathleen; his children, John, Tim, Andy and Kathy; his step children Craig and Diane; his brother Gustav; his grandchildren, Megan, Brianna, Will, Juliette, Meredith and Elliott. He was predeceased into God's hands by the mother of his children, Anna Wedemeyer.

Fred was a 1957 graduate of Wagner College in New York City. In 1960, he earned a Master of Divinity degree from Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia. In 1980, he received a Honorary Doctor of Divinity from Susquehanna University in Pennsylvania.

He was ordained into the Ministry of Word and Sacrament of the United Lutheran Church on June 15, 1960.

In his ministry, he served as pastor of St. Thomas Lutheran Church in Jamaica Queens, New York (1960-1968); as Assistant to the Bishop of the Central Pennsylvania Synod (Lutheran Church in America) from 1975-1987, and as Mission Developer for the New England Synod (Evangelical Lutheran Church in America) from 1988 until his retirement in 2002.

Family, friends and others whose lives Fred touched are invited to a celebration of his life at Trinity Lutheran Church, 73 Lancaster St., Worcester on Saturday, July 14, at 11 a.m. A reception will follow in Jeppson Hall. Burial will be private.
