John R. Andrews, III

Uxbridge - John R. Andrews, III, 82, of Uxbridge passed away Monday, September 3, 2018 at the UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, MA. He was the husband of Justine (Southwick) Brewer and the late Dixie N. (Nelson) Andrews who died in 2014.

Mr. Andrews founded Andrews Survey and Engineering in 1978 and worked for 40 years before handing down the business to his son.

He was born August 17, 1936 in Milford to the late John R. and Edith (Ramsey) Andrews, Jr. and was a graduate of Uxbridge High School. He received his Associate's Degree in mechanical engineering from Central New England College in 1957. He was a Registered Land Surveyor in the State of Massachusetts and a lifelong resident of Uxbridge.

John was a Director of the Daniels Farmstead Foundation, Inc., a member of the Board of Directors of the Uxbridge Housing authority, and a trustee of the First Congregational Church of Uxbridge. He was formerly an Uxbridge Selectman, Senior Master and Trustee of the Solomon's Temple Lodge of Uxbridge, volunteer fire fighter, and member of the Board of Directors of Savers Bank. John enjoyed farming and loved tractors and country music, especially Johnny Cash.

In addition to his wife, Justine of Uxbridge, John is survived by his children, Byron J. and his wife Linda Andrews of Uxbridge, and Jill A. and her husband Brody Reese of Uxbridge; three grandchildren, Iain Andrews, Sarah Reese and Haley Reese all of Uxbridge and a sister-in-law, Carol Andrews. He was predeceased by a brother, Kent Andrews.

Visiting hours will be held Friday, September 7, 2018 from 4-7 PM in the BUMA FUNERAL HOME, 101 N. Main St., Rte. 122, Uxbridge.

Funeral services will be Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 11 AM in the First Congregational Church of Uxbridge, 8 Court St., Uxbridge followed by burial at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Mendon St., Uxbridge.
